Social Modeling
Alber Bandura's Social Modeling Theory
Albert Bandura's theory of social modeling is important. This theory suggests that children learn by watching those around them.
Example:
Nina's mom was upset with her dad. They began arguing and her mom said "let's go int he room Nina does not need to hear or worry about our disagreement." Her parents then went in their room and talked everything out and hugged each other and spent time as a family. As Nina grew up and her and her husband had a disagreement she remembered when her parents had a disagreement. She then said to her husband that they should talk in the other room because their daughter didn't need to hear their disagreement.
This example shows how Nina grew up and learned from her parents to not let her little girl see their disagreements because to her it is morally wrong.
Connections To My Story
As a kid growing up I learned my morals from my grandparents. I went to church with my Meme and learned morals there and through the Bible. I also watched those around me.
As a kid I witnessed my mother and sister get into a physical fight and from that moment I realized it was morally wrong to hit your mother. Even though I witnessed the fight it made me realize to never hit my mother. When I got older I stepped in between my sister and mother to protect my mother. I never agreed with hitting your parents and I still don't. I believed that I should protect my mother since my Dad was home sick I was bigger than my sister height wise. My mother was shorter than my sister. I was the tallest and to protect my mother I stepped in between my sister trying to attack my mother. She was older and weighed more but I ended up protecting my mother.
Application To My Future Career
As an educator, I will show children what is morally right and wrong. For example, cheating on a test is wrong.
I will also be aware that my students watch me and I should act with the morals I have. I will love everybody as they are and I will have patience in my future career.
It is important to know that children watch others and learn from every person in their life. It is important to act in the right way.
